Have a Fall Adventure at Florida’s Sports Coast

Fall is here, and it’s the perfect season to discover Florida’s Sports Coast! Pasco County, which is located on the Gulf of Mexico in the Tampa Bay region, is known for its scenic coastline, numerous parks and trails, amateur sports complexes, and more opportunities for an autumn adventure! Make the most of Florida’s beautiful fall weather by walking an outdoor trail, trying a new sport, or embarking on an RV adventure. At The Oaks at Zephyrhills, a Good Sam-certified, family-owned and operated RV/mobile home senior community (55+), we think the possibilities to explore the area are endless, but here are some ideas to get you started:

  1. Enjoy the outdoors

With less humidity and slightly lower temperatures, you’ll find ideal weather in Zephyrhills in autumn. In fact, people say the best time to visit the area begins on October 15th – and lasts until spring! In October, you’ll experience daily highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s – which means it’s still warm enough to head to one of the Sports Coast beaches during the day, but cool and comfortable at night!

  1. Hit the water

Speaking of the beach, there are miles of coastline to explore in Pasco County, in addition to many lakes and rivers! Relax on the beach or take a fishing trip for seasonal catches. Paddle, boat, or kayak down one of the region’s waterways, where you can enjoy the sun while spotting Florida’s wildlife in their natural environment.

  1. Have a “Bucket List” adventures

If you have ever wanted to go skydiving, you can do it in Zephyrhills at Skydive City! In fact, it’s a premier destination for skydivers, who come from more than 80 countries, all 50 U.S. states, and all Canadian provinces to skydive and parachute.

If you want to go even wilder, Giraffe Ranch is wildlife park and giraffe farm in Dade City that offers drive-through safari tours! where you can see! You can experience the ranch from your car or take a tour by camel, llama, or Segway. It’s not a zoo or theme park, but a real working game farm and wildlife preserve that is home to both exotic and domestic animals.

  1. Experience a seasonal event

Live events are just beginning to return this fall! While we encourage continuing to social distance and taking COVID-19 safety precautions, we’re excited about upcoming events across Florida’s Sports Coast- and especially in Zephyrhills! The 12th Annual Harvest Festival and Halloween Howl are coming back this October, and you can find more details from Main Street Zephyrhills.

  1. Play an amateur sport

If you love to play racquet sports, you’ll find plenty of opportunities in Zephyrhills. In fact, there’s world class tennis center here, the Sarah Vande Berg Tennis & Wellness Center, offering tennis, pickleball, and padel courts as well as training programs for players of all ages and skill levels.

Florida’s Sports Coast is also an incredible golf destination, featuring scenic courses county-wide. In Zephyrhills, The Links of Lake Bernadette, which earned the rating of the “Best Overall Value” in Tampa Bay by Golf Digest, is one such option!

  1. Watch a pro game

Prefer to watch the pros? The Florida’s Sports Coast is the place to be! In nearby Tampa, you’ll find several championship teams to watch, including Super Bowl-winning Tampa Bay Buccaneers and back-to-back Stanley Cup-winning Tampa Bay Lightning. With football and hockey seasons just starting in fall (while baseball and soccer are heading to playoffs), there’s always a game going on!

  1. Take a trip back in time

If you are a history lover, Florida’s Sports Coast has activities for you, too! In fact, Zephyrhills is a huge aviation town with restored historic planes and a museum dedicated to World War II fighter pilots! Or, you can travel even further back in time to the 1800s when you experience the Pioneer Florida Museum and Village in Dade City!
